Pet Sayings about
Man's Best Friend
These Pet Sayings come to you on a morning when my life doesn't seem so blessed....but I am trying to see a positive somewhere.
I had always thought that when I lost a pet it would be my old and faithful friend Lizzy, our Border Collie-Blue Healer. For years now I have told people who asked her age, that she is 16. We never really knew for sure, so our fear the last few years is that we have felt she wouldn't make it another one.
According to Wikipedia, "Dogs perform many roles for people, such as hunting, herding, protection, assisting police and military, companionship, and, more recently, aiding handicapped individuals. This versatility, more than almost any other known animal, has given them the nickname "Mans best friend" in the western world. Currently, there are estimated to be 400 million dogs in the world.
The phrase "A Mans Best Friend" when termed with dogs, actually originated in a court of law. It was back in October 28, 1869, when a man's dog was shot to death by a neighbor. A number of lawyers got involved, the jury ruled in favor of the dog owner, and there was a very large (in those days) amount of money judgement. Here is the whole story and Summation to the Jury...surprising reading dog owners everywhere.

Today I have to say goodbye to my Leyna Liesse Von Hauses Manzoni, the sweet little Angel of my Life. I came here to write about her and heal, and sadly to look for words to say to my "lee-lee girl." Maybe you could leave those of us in Pet Grief - just a few words of encouragement in our
